WPPI 2010

Janet and I had the pleasure of spending two weeks in Vegas this spring. We were attending the WPPI annual Wedding Portrait Photographers International convention.

The convention does not go that long , we signed up ( paid) for extra days of training . I had the pleasure of spending two days with Gerry Ghinois , Gerry is considered to be the finest wedding photographer in the world. His work is inspiring , his personality is infectious and his methods are something that any photographer could use to help grow and develop.
Janet did courses on posing and lighting as well as work flow.
WPPI is both inspiring and overwhelming, last year was crazy this year was totally insane. 15000 photographers from all around the world converge on Las Vegas and the poor MGM is bursting at the seams.

This convention is all about learning, there is a trade show and lots of industry super stars , but the speakers that don't have the glitz factor , in my opinion have the most to offer. The little guy from the middle of nowhere USA or where ever who has figured out how to make a living and excel when he has 100 competitors that are giving away work for free. That is the guy with the most to offer.
Any serious photographer should be attending conventions , taking courses ( on line or in person ) and joining associations. With out bettering our selves we don't truly know how to run our business and how to value ourselves.
