Put yourself out there / make new friends
A while back Rock 97.7 posted a link to the release of a new band that was trying to make an impression on the local music scene. They are called Newcastle Kings and I loved the tune. The video that is posted on youtube is called “I’m in love with you” And I’m definitely a fan!
I’m watching the video and thinking that even though its clearly shot on a budget, its pretty good!
So off I go to Facebook and the web to see what I can find about them and realize that there are very few images of them out there. After taking a day or two to figure out what I would do based on their sound and where I would do it I contacted Ashley and discussed the possibility of working with them. I spoke to Ashley about what I would do, got a feel for what they would like and we immediately seemed to be on the same page. We set a date based on when everyone was available and waited for two months.
So on a cold snowy day in April (ya I know) we headed out to shoot, everyone froze (except me) but it was a lot of fun. The images are done and no one has seen them until now. I am so happy that I approached them. I could have been out doing landscapes or photographing local models but instead I helped a local band promote themselves and made new friends. I would say it was a great deal all around.
